On Friday September 30th, the day after I watched the play, I was able to attend a roundtable discussion that was held aiming at educating the audience about certain scenarios that may have been overlooked or any further questions about the play. During the discussion, I was able to learn about how white supremacy was included in the play as the actors were not given an official name. However, Sara the white woman in the play was the only character given a name. This portrays how we don’t tend to focus on the history of the untold but rather focus on dehumanizing the untold history of many Africans. The discussion left me wondering why does academia not cater to the true teachings of African history and why is it fabricated to fit a certain image?
